Canadian Cycling Association to help athletes win
Bikes and accessories maker return to support
as Canadian Cycling continues to grow
August 10, 2010 - The Canadian Cycling Association (CCA)
is proud to announce a new partnership with LOOK, a
high performance bicycle and accessory maker from France.
After a few years of separation, LOOK and the CCA have
reunited to conclude an agreement that will see them
to work together until the London Olympics in 2012.
Canadian National Team riders will have the opportunity
to compete for gold with equipment at the leading edge
of cycling technology, with a particular focus on the
track program, a program which has gained prominence
over the past two years.
“We’re delighted to see LOOK return as a
partner of the Canadian Cycling Association to deliver
exceptional products to help our riders deliver stronger
results. LOOK’s support will further help develop
a better experience for our riders and strengthen the
success of our various programs in the years to come
-- thanks to leading edge equipment”, said Greg
Mathieu, Chief Executive Officer and Secretary General
of the CCA.
In addition, other cycling programs under the banner
of the CCA will benefit from being equipped with top-notch
equipment, such as road and mountain bike frames, in
addition to providing pedals to the members of the national
team.
The CCA will receive bike frames for Track, Road and
Mountain Bike events and pedals for each cycling sport
from LOOK.
Jacques Landry, Chief Technical Officer of the CCA noted;
“Canadian Cycling is currently in the best shape
it has been in for a long time. We are in the process
of rebuilding our administrative support and high performance
sport programs, which ultimately supports world-class
athletic performance, and we are doing so at a fast
pace. Canadian cyclists have done well at the international
level this season, and we strive to continue on that
path towards the 2012 Olympic Games and onward.”
LOOK’s latest success came at the Tour de France,
where Yellow Jersey winner Alberta Contador won the
20-stage event riding with the new LOOK aerodynamic
pedals during the Time Trial stages.
The LOOK “KEO Blade Ti” pedals made their
first Tour appearance with a host of impressive wins:
The Green Points Jersey (Alessandro Petacchi of Lampre-Farnese
Vini), Most Combative Rider (Sylvan Chavanel of Quick
Step), Best Team Clasification (Team RadioShack), and
The Yellow Leaders Jersey (Alberto Contador).
